Meal Plan Monday - When you have the meal plan, sometimes you need serious fuel for a long day. These are, in my opinion, the meal plan meals that maximize your food or calories for a single meal.
This is the first of several Monday posts exploring options within the Kings Island Meal Plan. Of course, this is just our experience. We’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions in the comments!
Maximum food quantity has been established by the degree of fullness we experience. This is not a scientific study. We did not weigh the meals on a scale or do one of those calorie tests where you burn up the food and see how much heat it produced. There is also occasional inconsistency of quantity. Some days you just end up with a small burrito. :(
- 3-Way Meal w/ Fries (This option used to include an extra coney, which I miss. It is still a lot of food.)

Hank’s Mexican Grill
- Burrito or Bowl (This one used to come with chips and salsa, still can be a lot of food.)
The interesting thing about Hank’s Burritos is that they put everything you say into your meal. You pick a kind of rice, either or both kinds of beans, a meat, any or all of the vegetable toppings including guac, and cheese and sour cream! You can walk out of there with a huge pile of food.
- Pizza w/ Breadsticks
Pizza is served in four locations, International Street near the entrance, The Festhaus, at the rear of the park between The Beast and the Vortex and in Soak City at Coconut Cove Cafe. You can get pepperoni or cheese pizza with breadsticks and dipping sauce.

- Pulled pork BBQ sandwich w/ cole slaw and side of beans, fries or mac ‘n cheese (when available)
I’m not sure if this is going to be a regular option. I heard the outcry when the new restaurant opened with “Smokehouse” in the title and didn’t offer pulled pork BBQ sandwiches. There was temporary menu sign adding this great option! They also had Smoked Chicken Wings on this additional menu. The food really impressed and I hope the temporary drops and it becomes a permanent option!
Burgers & Chicken Sandwiches
- Bacon Cheeseburger w/ Fries (a small deduction of quality points for the weird maple bacon)
- Chicken Sandwich w/ Fries
There are many places where you can get a burger or a chicken sandwich. The style of fries varies too. But this option will give you a solid boost of protein and carbs. Locations: Festhaus, Chick-Fil-A, Coconut Cove Cafe, Juke Box Diner, Planet Snoopy Grill, and Reds Hall of Fame Grill.
- 2-Entree Plate w/ side of rice or noodles

- Buffalo Chicken Salad at Red’s Restaurant
One of the secrets of the meal plan are the four nice options in this sports-bar with restaurant style seating. Because the servers do more work here, I try to leave a small tip, even though I’m on the dining plan.
Honorable Mention - If potatoes get you excited, the huge fries at Coney Potato Works and Rivertown Potato Works will hook you up.
