The Best Meal Plan Meals - For Picky Eaters

by Mike | June 11, 2017 | 3 Minute Read

Meal Plan Monday - When you have the meal plan and picky kids, they can get tired of the same one or two items. You don't want them to groan when you suggest a visit to the park. Here are several different meal options that are more universally liked by kids.

This is the second in our series of Monday posts exploring specific options within the Kings Island Meal Plan. If you missed last week, we listed the options that gave you the maximum number of calories for when you need serious fuel. Of course, this is just our experience. Your kids may also have narrow choices that are different from ours. We'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions in the comments below!

Kids typically aren’t adventurous eaters. They often don’t like spicy things. They tend to gravitate to a few standard options without much sense of adventure. Starting to the left of the entrance and working around the park in a general clockwise direction, here are the meals most likely to please your picky eater:

Chicken Shack

  • Chicken Tenders w/ Fries

Festhaus

  • Chicken Tenders w/ Fries
  • 2-Slice Pizza w/ Breadsticks (cheese or pepperoni)
  • Hamburger w/ Fries

Coney Potato Works

  • Chicken Tenders w/ Fries
  • Corndog w/ Fries

Subway

  • Subway 6” sub and bag of chips (When building a custom sandwich, kids can be as picky here as they want. They can pick every item, or just select one kind of meat on bread.)

Skyline Chili

  • Coney Meal w/ Fries (You can get coneys as just hotdogs, or as hotdogs with cheese.)

Juke Box Diner

  • Chicken Tenders w/ Fries
  • Hot Dog w/ Fries

LaRosa’s Pizza

About chicken tenders

So as you can see, there are about a dozen places where you can get some breaded chicken tenders. The style of the tenders is the same in most of the locations, but not all. The Chicken Shack has their own unique style of tenders that they also use in the salad and sandwhich options. Of course Chick-fil-a nuggets have a style of their own, and are not available on Sunday. (In another generation, I fear that is the only food option there will be.)

More about fries

The style of the fries is different in nearly every location. Like I mentioned last week, the fries are a great source of fuel for the physical challenges of an amusement park. They restaurants often give you a gigantic mound of perfectly-prepared fries! At the Potato Works, you get the thick Fresh Cut Fries, which are more like railroad ties made out of potatoes. They are really thick and really good! Other places have the addicting krinkle-cut fries. A few have the straight cut steak fries.

Your Kid May Have Other Options

I’ve omitted grilled chicken sandwiches, which will feature more prominently next week as we look at the healthiest of the meal plan options. You know your kid, maybe these aren’t the things they go for. But of the kids I know, these are the options that will sustain them during their time in the park. So until Kings Island offers a PB&J meal, this is going to have to do!
